Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is seeking a student or recent graduate with a desire to obtain hands-on public relations, marketing and event management experience in the sports business. The intern will assist the Marketing & Communications Manager through: traditional PR and social media efforts, the creation of promotions and promotional materials; development of all publications; representing the company at various promotional events; and various responsibilities during race weekends (schedule is available at http://www.midohio.com/Schedule).
Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Responsibilities: Duties may include but are not limited to: researching and writing content for web stories, press releases, newsletters and event programs; compiling and distributing press kits; finding and staffing off-site promotions; coordinating press conferences; setting up and staffing car corrals as well as other fan activity areas and fan interaction at race events.
Qualifications: Ideally, the candidate is at least a college sophomore majoring in PR, communication, journalism, sports management, any business field or related course of study; has an enthusiasm for sports and entertainment; is a fast learner and strong writer, able to work alone and with other interns; has a desire to learn about the company and its history, competition and offerings; and has the ability to develop strong relationships with fans, media, sponsors and staff.

Unpaid. Interns will have use of a company vehicle for track events and promotional efforts. Hours will often be long and vary by week and event, and candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends. The internship time period is somewhat flexible, however it is imperative that a student start in early June and work through August 16.
