Mid-Ohio Opens Several Car Club Events to Fans in 2012

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course announced that it is opening its gates to the public for several select car club events, beginning this weekend, April 13-15.

Nine club racing weekends featuring the local competition of Ohio-based NASA, SCCA, BMW and Dark Kart clubs will be open to fans in 2012. Entry to the track in Lexington, Ohio for each event is just $10 for adults. Children 12 and under and parking are always free at Mid-Ohio.

The grandstands and pits will be closed but all other areas of the facility are open for fans to enjoy the action. Gate 3 opens at 8 a.m. and close around 5 p.m. and the paddock concession stand will be open during midday. Fans are not permitted to camp overnight at any of these events, but the wristband will gain them access to all three days of racing.

“Our fans have continued to ask about coming out to see some of the car clubs run and we thought we would open it up for them this year,” said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “We know our regular fans will enjoy coming out but hopefully this will bring out some new fans and introduce them to our great track in hopes they return for our professional events throughout the season.”
