Mid-Ohio and Dunlop Tire Announce Three Year Partnership Extension
Dunlop Tire and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will continue their partnership for three more years, through 2014.
Dunlop Tire is the Official Motorcycle Tire of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and has supported the track since the 1980s.
“We’re thrilled to have Dunlop committed for three more years. Dunlop has been involved with the track for over half its existence. Loyal partners like that are the key to our success on and off the track,” said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Dunlop Tire is the presenting sponsor of the popular Buckeye SuperBike Weekend July 13-15, a staple of the Ohio summer, celebrating AMA Pro Road Racing’s 30th year at the track in 2012. The race weekend features competition from four classes, including SuperBike, SportBike, SuperSport and XR1200.
“We have been working with Mid-Ohio for over 20 years and it is actually one of the easiest decisions we make thanks to the outstanding efforts of the entire team there. The staff at Mid-Ohio routinely over deliver on our agreements and that makes it simple for us to stay involved, not to mention that it is usually one of the best attended stops on the AMA Pro Road Racing calendar,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Tire’s Vice President, Motorcycle Division.
A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15 turn, and a 2.25- mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and annually hosts a diverse lineup of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional drivers and riders. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course opened in 1962 and is owned and operated by Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC.
