Free to the public, fans can meet and greet IZOD IndyCar Series driver
(July 22, 2011) – IZOD IndyCar Series driver and 2011 Indianapolis 500 polesitter Alex Tagliani (#77 Bower & Wilkins/Sam Schmidt Motorsports) will be signing autographs and interacting with fans at Roush Honda in Westerville, Ohio on Wednesday, July 27 from 1- 2 p.m.
Accompanying Tagliani is the 2005 Indy 500 polesitting Dallara IndyCar, which has been repurposed as a show car. The vehicle has been wrapped with Mid-Ohio decals promoting the Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 5-7. Fans can also take pictures with Tagliani at Roush Honda, located at 100 West Schrock Road in Westerville, Ohio.
“We look forward to having Alex and our new show car on display for our fans to interact with. This is a great opportunity for our community and for race fans that have never been to an IndyCar race to see one of the cars up close and meet one of the drivers competing in The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio in August,” said Craig Rust, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course president.
Tagliani looks to continue his success at Mid-Ohio as he makes his second IZOD IndyCar Series start in Lexington, Ohio. After leading 30 laps in 2010, he finished the race fourth, ten spots ahead of where he started. Currently sitting in 10th place in the standings with 173 points, “Tags” and the Sam Schmidt Motorsports crew hope to compete for a win at Mid-Ohio.
On July 28, Tagliani is expected to join several other drivers in an IZOD IndyCar Series test at Mid-Ohio, which is open to the public. For more information, visit www.midohio.com
