Former track owners will be represented by mother and daughters
(August 4, 2011) – The Trueman family, owners of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the last three decades, have been named Grand Marshals of The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio this Sunday, August 7.
Barbara Trueman, family matriarch, her daughter Michelle Trueman Gajoch, president of the facility from 1989 to 2011, and daughter Megan Cindric, will be present during the weekend. Celebrating its 50th season this year, Mid-Ohio was sold to Kim Green and Kevin Savoree through Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC earlier this year after the Trueman family served as stewards from 1982 to 2011.
“This racetrack has been a big part of our family for the past thirty years,” said Trueman Gajoch, “We’re honored that Kim [Green] and Kevin [Savoree] invited us to return to the track as Grand Marshals for The Honda Indy® 200. I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the staff, sponsors and others in the paddock I’ve worked with for a long time.”
Red Roof Inn founder and TrueSports Racing owner Jim Trueman invested millions into the track after purchasing it to modernize the facility. The family oversaw the construction of nearly a dozen buildings, many of which that stand today including the Goodyear Tower, competition garages and Mid-Ohio Deck.
“The Trueman family transformed Mid-Ohio from a popular car club destination to one of the premier road courses in the country. The capital improvements along with their long standing relationships with fans, the community and the sponsors has laid the foundation for decades of continued success,” said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The Lexington, Ohio-based track hosts the biggest motorsport event in the state this weekend with the co-headlined Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge and The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio featuring the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron and the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Weekend and daily General Admission tickets are available at the gate. General parking is free and children 12 and under are also admitted free. Visit www.midohio.com
