(July 25, 2013) – Fans with tickets to The Honda Indy 200 are invited to attend the IZOD IndyCar Series test day on Wednesday, July 31, free of charge. All IZOD IndyCar Series teams are expected to participate, in preparation for the race weekend on August 2-4.
The test day is open to race ticket-holding fans from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Fans without a ticket to The Honda Indy 200 who wish to attend may buy one at the gate and gain admission to the test day and the race. The Keyhole and the Infield are open for viewing and fans are welcome to bring food and drinks as the concession stands will not be open. No RVs, motor homes or trailers will be permitted into the facility. Further event information and an access map will be distributed to fans when they arrive. The testing will break at noon for one hour.
Among those expected to test include Ohio native Graham Rahal, current points leader Helio Castroneves, four-time Mid-Ohio winner Scott Dixon and 2012 Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay.
“We’ve had some large test days recently, and this one should be no different. Having the full field here during race week is a nice treat for our fans that already have tickets to the main event. It practically turns a three-day event into four and adds more excitement to The Honda Indy 200,” said Craig Rust, Mid-Ohio president.
The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 2-4 is the 15th of 19 races on the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series calendar. Support races throughout the weekend include Firestone Indy Lights, USF2000 Championship, Pro Mazda Championship and Pirelli World Challenge Championships. There will be a fireworks show on Saturday night, autograph sessions throughout the weekend and numerous other fan activities on the schedule.
Fans are encouraged to come out and watch their favorite IndyCar drivers test their machines. General Admission tickets for The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 2-4 start at $50 for race day. General parking is free and children 12 and under are also admitted free. Visit midohio.com
