(April 30, 2013) –Mechanics Bank is renewing its partnership with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for 2013 and will return as title sponsor of the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio.
The 31st Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio is on June 28-30 and is sanctioned by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA). Last year was Mechanics’ first foray into motorsports partnership.
“Last year was a new experience for us and one we truly enjoyed,” said Deborah Schenk, president & CEO of Mechanics Bank. “Mid-Ohio has been a crucial part of the community for decades and we feel our businesses have a lot in common, making this partnership very natural.”
The SVRA will sanction over 20 races from 11 classes separated by speed and production year. The historic cars are not only seen at high speeds on track, but also in the infield in one of two car shows on Saturday and Sunday.
“We could not have been happier in working with Mechanics Bank on executing a wonderful Vintage event in 2012,” said Mid-Ohio President Craig Rust. “Their standing as a business leader in the community and their enthusiasm around the event made our first year partnership run extremely smoothly and we look forward to continuing the positive momentum for 2013.”
The 2013 Featured Marque is an encompassing theme of American Muscle. Cudas, Corvettes and Mustangs will be among the hundreds of classic cars seen on site at the Lexington, Ohio-based track this June. The grand marshal will be announced later this year.
