No annual membership fee is required to ride in Performance Track Riding events at The Mid-Ohio School!
Overview
Get on the track for one or two full days of track lapping on your sportbike. All skill levels are encouraged to participate, from NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED riders. Our instructors will aid you in cornering skills, visual skills, body position, throttle control, steering input, lean angle and entry speed. Work on line selection and traction management and brush up on track flags and terminology. All participants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license to participate in Performance Track Riding Programs.
Tire Sales & Service

The Mid-Ohio School is proud to now exclusively sell Dunlop motorcycle tires for our Performance Track Riding events. In addition to Dunlop tire sales, this will also include tire service at nearly all PTR dates. The Dunlop Q2s are priced at $300 per pair and the Dunlop D211 GPA GPs at $320 per set. These are PTR customer discounted prices as a special benefit from The Mid-Ohio School to offer one-stop, affordable shopping for your Mid-Ohio track day needs. Each participant can only purchase one set per PTR track date attended. To ensure proper fitment for your bike, place your Dunlop tire order in advance by calling 877-793-TMOS (8667).
Types of Events
Standard Events (Single-Day and Two-Day): This course will be broken up into three groups (NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED) by skill level to ensure a quality experience for everyone. Riders average two hours and 20 minutes of track time each day of this course.
Max-Time and Max-Time Twilight Events General Overview: Designed STRICTLY for accomplished INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED riders only. You must have completed a minimum of 3 intermediate or advanced riding level days in the past 12 months prior to enrolling in this type of event. This is for the safety of all riders and these guidelines are in place to keep the event safe and fun for all participants. Any rider not meeting these requirements will be asked to leave the track day and will not be given a refund.
Max-Time Twilight Events: Open to experienced INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED riders. Intermediate riders will take the track for one 15 minute warm up session and then the advanced riders will do the same. Following the warm up sessions, all riders will be on track at the same time for the remainder of the event. Instructors will still be available to assist you at any time and the checkered flag will fly every 1/2 hour to insure that you come into the pits, take a break and get a drink before heading back out for more fun. To enroll in one of these events you should have ridden in intermediate or advanced levels at least 3 times in the past 12 months. This is to make sure you are comfortable riding with intermediate and advanced riders at the same time. These events have a riding start time of 5:00pm and an end time of DUSK. Remember, that means the ending time will vary depending on what month of the year these events are held.
Max-Time Event: This full day event will have INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED riders enjoying the track together to maximize your track time! Intermediate riders will take the track for one 15 minute warm up session and then the advanced riders will do the same. After this initial half-hour the track is open for all intermediate and advanced riders to take to the track together and have a great day of fun, safe riding enjoyment. Instructors will still be available to assist you at any time and the checkered flag will fly every 1/2 hour to insure that you come into the pits, take a break and get a drink before heading back out for more fun.

Cancellations/Refunds
Will be given only if a cancellation request is received 31 days or more in advance, in writing (email, fax or letter). We will deduct a 15% processing fee from your refund amount. Cancellations made between 30 and 15 days prior to an event will be assessed a 50% processing fee from your refund amount. Cancellations made 14 days or less prior to an event will be assessed a 75% penalty from your refund amount.
If you want to change your track day to another track day (at least 5 days prior to the date of your scheduled track day) there is a $50 administrative fee for this track day change. You may not reschedule within 5 days on an event. Sessions will be held rain or shine.
Bike Preparation
- All bikes MUST pass technical inspection prior to admittance to the track. If your bike DOES NOT pass tech inspection, you will NOT receive a refund.
- Tires and brakes must be in good condition. Tires should be at least 75 percent of new condition. Any tires that are bluing from excessive wear will be disallowed. Slicks are allowed in 85 percent plus condition. We will have on site tire service at each track day, so if your tires don't pass, you will have the opportunity to purchase replacement tires to pass tech.
- All glass, headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over or removed. Side mirrors must be removed for the advanced group and at least taped over for all other groups.
- We recommend, but do not require removal of center stands. No bikes with center stands will be allowed in the Advanced/Racer Group due to the ground clearance issue.
- All machines must have an operational handlebar mounted kill switch/button and self-closing throttle in good working condition.
- Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST use water or water wetter or a non-ethyl glycol based anti-freeze/coolant. Approved Poly Glycol brands are: Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice. NO AUTOMOTIVE ETHYL GLYCOL BASED COOLANTS ARE ALLOWED.
- It is recommended that Advanced and Intermediate riders safety wire drain plugs and oil fill caps. Minimum requirement is RTV silicone on both. We highly suggest securing the oil filter as well.
- All valve stems must have caps.
- Wheel balance weights must be well-secured.
- License plates must have bolts taped or be removed
Rider Gear Requirements
- All riders must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
- Damage free DOT or SNELL full-face helmet with face shield.
- Riding boots that fully cover the ankle.
- Gauntlet style gloves with full wrist coverage.
- One or two piece leathers. Two piece leather suits must zip together for intermediate or advanced groups. Ballistic nylon suits such as Joe Rocket, AeroStitch etc. are acceptable in the Novice and Intermediate Group only provided they are either one piece or zip together with at least 50% zipper contact with reinforced and padded shoulders, elbows, hips, and knee areas. No chaps.
- Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST WEAR A BACK PROTECTOR. Soft back pads sewn into suits are not enough. No back protector = no track time!

"I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that our recent trip to the Mid-Ohio track was awesome. We had never been to this particular track before, so we weren't sure what to expect. I must say, without a doubt, this was one of the most enjoyable track days. For me, I experienced great kindness from many of the staff members. The staff here were more than accommodating. I have never been allowed to get so close to the track to photograph these events. Your track hospitality was very much noticed and appreciated. We most certainly plan on coming back to this track."
