DUBLIN, OHIO (April 29) – The Greater Columbus Sports Commission and The Mid-Ohio School have partnered for the fourth consecutive year to offer A Day in the Loop
, a high performance, on-track driving event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
on Thursday, May 12.
The program was conceptualized by The Mid-Ohio School, located an hour north of Columbus in Lexington, Ohio, in 2008 to assist the Greater Columbus Sports Commission in its fundraising endeavors within the Central Ohio business community. It consists of an abbreviated version of The Mid-Ohio School’s popular Acura High Performance Course or the option of a ‘Lap and Lunch’ session.
“We are proud to partner for the fourth year with the Mid-Ohio School and their new ownership in Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC to allow our supporters the opportunity to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience and learn about all that the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course offers as a world-class racing facility,” said Linda Logan, executive director of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. “Each year, we hear from our guests about their favorite parts of the day from driving to learning more about what the cars, and they as drivers can actually do on the course.”
A Day in the Loop
participants spend time in the classroom, where they learn the dynamics of driving before strapping into the seat of an Acura TSX to test their skills in high performance drills including slalom, high-speed braking and turning and some time in the Honda Civic Skid Car. The day’s activities closes with an on-track lapping session of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course’s challenging 2.4-mile, 15-turn configuration.
Enrollment is $200 and space is limited to only 48 spots, which can be reserved online
or by phone at 877-793-8667 by May 6. The day is split into two sessions, with one each in the morning (8 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
and afternoon (noon – 5:30 p.m.)
. Drivers with limited schedules can do the Bob Evans ‘Lap & Lunch’ from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. where they ride around the racetrack at speed with a professional drive, get their picture taken with a car and enjoy lunch for $50.
“This a fun way for us to do our part in assisting the Greater Columbus Sports Commission (GCSC) in its mission to attract world-class sporting events to Central Ohio,” said The Mid-Ohio School President Craig Rust. “The program is a condensed version of our Acura High Performance Course and serves as just one example of how the Sports Commission and The Mid-Ohio School work together.”
