Bagger Class Added to Packed Vintage Road Racing Schedule at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

AMA Amateur National Bagger Championship class in partnership with Bagger Racing League running Saturday 

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Classic racing motorcycles from decades past will command the freshly repaved curves of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, during 2024 Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 26-28. America’s grandest celebration of vintage motorcycles will honor eras old and new with national championship racing on one of the country’s favorite road courses.

Mid-Ohio Memories, 1996: Picotte Wins A Messy One

The soaking-wet 1996 AMA Superbike race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was nothing if not a complete and utter debacle. The race was won by Yoshimura Suzuki’s Pascal Picotte after a second red flag stoppage when Vance & Hines Yamaha’s Jamie James crashed in spectacular fashion in the last corner, prompting AMA officials to finally put a stop to the proceedings.

LEXINGTON, Ohio (March 26, 2024) - O’Reilly Auto Parts has joined as title sponsor for the new season-opening event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, headlined by the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, June 7-9. The exciting weekend of world-class sports car racing, which the motorsports facility was built to showcase, will be named the O’Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio.

Mid-Ohio Memories, 1994: Edwards Nabs His First Superbike Victory

In 1992, an 18-year-old Colin Edwards won the AMA 250cc Grand Prix National Championship in his first attempt. That title led him to a Superbike ride on the Vance & Hines Yamaha team and with that came great expectations. In his rookie Superbike season, the young Texan failed to win a race and there were a lot of “I told you so’s.”
