Papasavvas is Perfect in Flag-to-Flag  Home USF2000 Win

LEXINGTON, Ohio – Local driver Evagoras Papasavvas put a disappointing Friday firmly behind him as he sped to a flag-to-flag victory for Jay Howard Driver Development in this afternoon’s second leg of the Tatuus Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio tripleheader. On pole for the second straight day, Papasavvas, from Loveland, Ohio, repeated his maiden success from one year ago. He also moved up to second place in the USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire point standings with his first win of the season.

Teammate Michael Costello, from Naples, Fla., maintained his recent strong form by claiming a second runner-up finish in his last three races, while Elliot Cox, from Indianapolis, Ind., also snagged his second podium finish of the season with third in his patriotically liveried Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing Development Tatuus USF-22.

Collet Shatters Mid-Ohio Track Record for First Career Pole

LEXINGTON, Ohio (Saturday, July 6, 2024) – Caio Collet is poised for a breakthrough weekend in INDY NXT by Firestone at the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio on Saturday after earning his first career pole with a track-record lap.

Brazilian rookie Collet took the top spot with a lap of 1 minute, 10.2879 seconds in the No. 18 HMD Motorsports car. That lap on the repaved, 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course easily scaled the INDY NXT track record of 1:10.8079 set by Oliver Askew in July 2019.

Johnson’s Daily Double Tightens  USF Pro 2000 Title Chase

LEXINGTON, Ohio – Nikita Johnson thrust himself back into the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire championship chase by scoring an emphatic double victory in today’s Tatuus Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. The 16-year-old from Gulfport, Fla., led throughout this morning’s 30-lap race but had to come from behind to complete the clean sweep later this afternoon for VRD Racing.

Jace Denmark, from Brownsburg, Ind., also enjoyed a strong day for Pabst Racing with a pair of runnerup finishes as teammate Christian Brooks, from Santa Clarita, Calif., and Turn 3 Motorsport’s Danny Dyszelski, from Belmont, N.C., shared the third-place honors.

Taylor Enjoys Banner Day With  a Pair of Victories at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio – Max Taylor is on a roll. Moments after scoring an accomplished USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire victory this afternoon in wet conditions at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, VRD Racing’s Taylor hopped over to his awaiting USF Juniors Tatuus JR-23 and repeated the feat in the first of two races that will comprise the Tatuus Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Incredibly, he managed to take the victory despite making two visits to pit lane.

Taylor’s second win of the USF Juniors Presented by Continental Tire season vaulted him from third in the points standings to the lead after former championship leader Sebastian Wheldon, from Coral Gables, Fla., was involved in a collision while competing for a podium position. At stake is a scholarship valued at $263,700 to graduate onto the next step of the USF Pro Championships driver development ladder, USF2000, in 2025.

Palou Paces Practice in Mixed Conditions at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (Friday, July 5, 2024) – Championship leader Alex Palou paced the opening practice for The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2025 Civic Hybrid on Friday, a session in mixed weather conditions that prevented most of the field from enough track time to give the new INDYCAR hybrid system a full workout.

Two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Palou was quickest at 1 minute, 7.0650 seconds in the No. 10 Ridgeline Lubricants Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Palou, who leads second-place Will Power by 23 points in the standings, is a recent master at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, with a victory last July and three consecutive podium finishes dating to 2021.
